Tailings Dam – Anhui

This valley-type tailings facility in Anhui is built by the upstream method and has a total design storage capacity of 6.45 million m³. The 18 m high homogeneous earth starter embankment runs from elevation +32 m to +50 m, with inner and outer slope ratios of 1:2.0 below 37.0 m, 1:3.0 between 37.0 m and 44.0 m, and 1:2.5 above 44.0 m; the later tailings storage embankment is designed to a height of 30 m. Following economic, practical, scientific and advanced design principles, a full online safety monitoring system was implemented.
