Tailings Dam – Zhejiang

Located in Zhejiang, this tailings facility extends 240 m in length and 180 m in width with a maximum catchment area of 0.414 km², and is classified as a Grade III tailings dam. The permeable rock-fill starter embankment stands 22 m high between elevations +96 m and +118 m, with the storage embankment designed for a final crest elevation of +160 m, a total design dam height of 64 m and a total storage capacity of about 1.2 million m³ (900,000 m³ effective capacity). The deposit has currently reached elevation +151 m, with 877,000 m³ of tailings stored. A comprehensive online safety monitoring program was delivered following economic, practical, scientific and advanced principles.
